community financial aid mini “grants”

in september 2023, we were able to distribute $500 via 5 $100 mini “grants” to assist lgbtqia2s+ pittsburghers with housing, bills, groceries, transportation, or whatever they need. within days, over 200 applications were received. 5 people were randomly drawn and contacted: gabrielle, georgett, amanda, marsh, and emily. there were no requirements; it was open to any queer person in the greater pittsburgh area. made possible by funds from queer pittsburgh’s participation in prototype pgh’s incubator cohort! thanks prototype! <3

paint to heal

in partnership with unite to heal pa, a ywca initiative, we held “paint to heal,” an evening of art, music + conversation on august 14, 2022. we free-painted and discussed what it means to heal from oppression at the intersections of our identities, as well as how we can work to de-center white narratives of queerness and dismantle white supremacy through healing. all supplies were provided with 20 spots open for registrants.

tuck kit fund

we raised $80 to purchase + ship 3 unclockable swim- and gym-proof tuck kits to lgbtqia2s+ pittsburghers. tuck kits are used to create a flat appearance between one’s legs. thank you for your generosity in allowing us to do this.

binder fund 3

we raised $215 to purchase and ship 5 gc2b swim-friendly, nude binders to lgbtqia2s+ pittsburghers free of charge. people donated via venmo and were entered to win a pride pixel heart sticker by a bitofkake on etsy.

t-shirt design contest + fundraiser

twenty one queer artists from pittsburgh submitted their artwork for the chance of it being put on t-shirts, and ananya bhat, carlee shreve + rylan are the three winners! sales for this project have closed. 25% of proceeds went to the artist of the shirt that was purchased and 75% went towards funding a future queer art show for the pittsburgh community, which was later put on hold. the funds were reallocated to friends at BLAC SWPA for their vital work. we offered t-shirt pick-ups in oakland carnegie public library + bantha tea bar in bloomfield. if you did not pick yours up, please dm on instagram, @queer.pittsburgh. thank you for your support. <3

steel city fnb fundraiser

we raised $151.66 for steel city food not bombs (cashapp: $pghFNB, venmo: @pghfnb) to assist in their work of distributing free hot meals + necessities to our city. those who donated $5+ were entered to win a $40 sleepy hollow handmade gift card, with a winner being randomly chosen.

winter pizza distribution

we raised over $300 from the help of community members to distribute hot pizzas and essentials kits to unhoused folks in pittsburgh. the kits included items such as personal care products, socks, snacks, hand warmers and more.

octopus giveaway

this giveaway benefitted a local queer person in need of funds for groceries and car repairs. to contribute, venmo or cashapp hurlahobgoblin.

bake sale + drive

this bake sale and drive was to benefit SisTers PGH and RiCE PGH, two organizations who do so much for Pittsburgh. the $100 we raised from selling brownies, cookies and rice krispie treats was donated to SisTers, and the clothing and hygiene donations we received were given to RiCE to distribute to pittsburgh’s houseless population.

this gofundme raised $200 to purchase 5 skin-colored, swim-friendly gc2b chest binders that were distributed free of charge to 5 lgbtqia+ pittsburghers in need.

pride flag giveaway

this giveaway featured a progress pride flag to raise money for @itsmischadee’s gender-affirming surgery. anyone who donated $1+ was entered to win.

food + clothing drive

our food + clothing drive collected and distributed toiletries, gently used and new clothing, unopened foods and more for/to those in need. donations were given to hugh lane wellness foundation.

this fund raised $180 to purchase 4 flesh-colored, swim-friendly gc2b binders that were given to 4 lgbtqia+ pittsburghers free of charge.

bracelet sale

the bracelet sale featured 32 handmade, pride-themed/pronoun bracelets, and 75% of proceeds went to a trans man in Pittsburgh’s surgery funds.
